“Breaking the Cycle of Violence” Promo

This spring, students in Wide Angle’s Mentoring Video Project are making a short film about breaking the cycle of violence in Baltimore City. Across the nation, violent crime and youth incarceration is down. But, in Baltimore, the rate of violent crime is more than six times over the national average. In their film, our youth producers will look at how a lack of resources and opportunities condemns young people to repeat a cycle of violence that has played out for years in Baltimore. We will profile families that have lost youth to violence and young people who have thought that violence is their own option. We will also profile organizations working to promote peace in Baltimore, who can show us how investing in resources for families and youth can work to stop the cycle of violence in our city.

“Finding Your Passion” Promo

This spring, Youth Producers in our Mentoring Video Project will be producing a short film about discovering and pursuing your passion. Our Youth Producers know how great it is to have a program that helps them pursue their interests in filmmaking, but also they know that there just aren’t enough programs in Baltimore to help young people explore their interests. In order to help advocate for more programs for our city’s youth, the film will profile young people who are doing extraordinary things because of their involvement in innovative after school and extracurricular programs. If you know someone who should be profiled in our film, nominate them today.
