EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT, FAMILY AND MEDICAL LEAVE INSURANCE (FAMLI), MARYLAND DEPARTMENT OF LABOR

Maria Abrams is a proactive assistant and staff leader who knows what it takes to maintain a highly functioning office with 17+ years of success in supporting executives and directing administrative tasks in high-pressure environments. Her skillset spans expense management, meeting facilitation, confidential communications, project management, invoicing, and staff training. In her previous role as the Office Service Assistant and Senior Docket Clerk, she assisted the team captain of the Special Victim and Domestic Violence Units for the Baltimore City State of Attorney for 11 years. In addition to managing 60-75 cases twice a week, she was the team’s go-to advisor, chief liaison, and communications gatekeeper. From composing correspondence to facilitating payroll, she made sure operations ran smoothly and efficiently. In her current role as the Executive Assistant, Accountable Officer, Ambassador for the Family and Medical Leave Insurance (Famli) unit with the Maryland Department of Labor, she hopes that she will continue to serve the citizens of Maryland for years to come. Throughout her career, she’s been relied on to course-correct challenges, prioritize high-visibility projects, and drive the coordination of logistics, including on- and offsite events, meetings, and travel arrangements. In her free time, she enjoys cycling, reading, and creating jewelry, soap, and candles. She is also on a mission to empower victims of domestic abuse through storytelling.
